Sanjay Nazerali, Carat Global’s Chief Strategy Officer, has been named as one of Britain’s 100 most connected men.


British GQ teamed up with Editorial Intelligence to find the men who represent the 21st century’s “new cornerstone of influence: Networks, Connections and Ideas”. They split them into five categories - Connector, Influencer, Socialite, Spider, and Leader – and Sanjay is rubbing shoulders with leading lights from the worlds of politics, public spirit and public life; sport; biz & tech; media and publishing; PRs and agents; and culture, art and food.

On a list that includes Prince Charles, David Beckham, Rupert Murdoch and Benedict Cumberbatch, Sanjay has been identified as a ‘Connector’ – an enabler who introduces interesting people to other interesting people, helping to create connections and networks – and a ‘Spider’, because he spans so many different interests. He also chaired the panel discussion at last night’s launch party, further demonstrating his communication skills.

One of the creators of the list, Julia Hobsbawm, founder of Editorial Intelligence and Honorary Visiting Professor in Networking at Cass Business School, London, remarked: “Networks and networking - who and what you know - is the new sphere of influence. We created a new set of definitions - a new social ranking - for this list and have come up with five that we hope will be a benchmark for the future. Women's networks arguably get more recognition these days than men's but this list is less of an Old Boy Network and more of the New Connected Men Network instead."

Sanjay himself is more modest: “Of course it’s an honour, but it’s also quite embarrassing. I’m just a people person, I like meeting fascinating people and finding other fascinating people for them to meet and collaborate with.”
